A team of driven and motivated people from the DR Congo and from the USA, ready to share their Congolese social and cultural experiences with others.
The Congo Culture USA initiative was born following a 2017 meeting held by the President of the Congolese Community Washington-DC Metropolitan (CCWM) in Silver Spring, MD aimed at promoting engagement from its members. Mr. Andjelo Cherty Mwembya stepped in and propose the idea of promoting the very rich culture of Kongo to the people living around the D-M-V (DC-Maryland-Virginia) and across the continental United States. Congo Culture USA was launched on December 5, 2017. We started with our KONGO language program; we teach the five national languages of the DR Congo; Lingala, Kikongo, Tshiluba, Swahili and French. We have partnered with DRCArts.org and Arts of Kongo to showcase Congolese Arts, Dance, Food, and Music.
Our mission is to promote the Congolese culture and to foster relationships among the Congolese community and the local community.
Sign up to hear from us about our language classes, Arts, Food, Dance, Music events and special events.
Help us volunteering to teach the languages, to be a storyteller, a cook, a dancer, a musician, a cook or a chef, a game instructor, and even a merchant
